PALAIMINIMAS for soprano and strings, 2024

You fell silent so that I might gain a voice; you became the past as I discovered my future. You left behind endless vaults in which the skies might shine, allowing me to find the roads home. And though I would sacrifice much for one last meeting, I am blessed that I will carry you in my heart.

May the blessing of the Lost be reflected for us in the hopeful chatter of birds, in the endless roar of waves, and in the beating of our hearts, leading us each day to our meetings on earth—to live while longing and to long while living.

And may the blessing be set apart for those who are no longer here from those who are yet to come.

Performed together with Ensemble NICO, conducted by Gediminas Gelgotas, 2024

STARFALL for SSAATTBB, 2022

I clearly remember - staring into the white wall, with my back injured, heartbroken and soul - very much lost. It felt like a never-ending vertigo of darkness. And within that darkness there came these simple words, like a prayer, coming from the inside: “Please. Help me come back to the Light. Help me find the path I need to go.”. Of course, it’s hard to stand against the very tempting colours of self-doubt, self-absorbance and fear. They are a part of life, they are inevitable. But also - they are a conscious choice. So I chose rather to go to the Light without knowing where exactly it is. But I still go. Every day. Every moment. Slowly healing and opening the same heart that’s finally not so much broken.
“Starfall” was not only a piece that I was writing - it became a new life, a diary, it became my cure. “Enlighten my heart” - to this day I mumble, when in doubt.
It is so bizzare to hear the pieces that you got in your head being rehearsed and then performed to the people - friends, colleagues, strangers. It’s almost like in that very moment everyone became the witnesses of a newborn. It is surreal, but - I wonder that life itself is one surreal game full of suprises.
I wish to have more perfect words and sounds to thank those who are so inspiring that made me find my inner music. I wish that someone, who heard it, had a thought - oh, I can do something like this. Maybe it will not be perfect, will not win all of the competitions, maybe it will be heard just now, but it will be genuine. Because “Starfall” was about that - about those times, when I heard and met someone, who shined so bright, that that light shed to all around it, including me.

WHAT WILL THEY DO for SSATB, 2019

"When one looks at the skies, sees dots of light and comes up with a wish - but very quickly realises that shining stars are actually electronic devices - human-made drones. Can those grant our wishes like falling stars used to? What about the snowflake that gets caught in our palms - is it made out of real snow or it's plastic? One could ever guess..."
